Sobre este evento
Come join us for an intimate tea gathering in the serene back room of An Chi in Amsterdam.
𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚 𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠
Drinking tea together in silence is a chance to slow down and be present. It opens up our senses, makes us receptive, and connects us with the tea and with each other. It doesn't require effort, much like listening to music. We quietly attend to the tea, to our body and whatever arises in us.
Uscha will select, prepare, and pour the tea. We'll drink from small tea bowls over 3-4 rounds, and each round you can decide whether to join in or sit it out. We steep the tea quite briefly each round, so the leaves open up slowly and release a different side of their flavor and aroma every time. It's like taking a journey with the tea, each round there might be something new to discover.
We'll sit on meditation cushions. If you'd rather use a meditation stool with a backrest, feel free to bring your own. When you arrive, we'll give you a short intro, and after that we'll be in silence for the rest of the time. After we close together, we'll leave An Chi in silence too, so everyone can carry the stillness, and whatever they experienced, into the rest of their day.

An Chi is a much-loved massage studio on the Overtoom in Amsterdam. The owner, Lydia, moved in 15 years ago and renovated and designed the space herself, with a lot of love and attention. You can see it in every detail. The moment we saw the back room, we fell in love. It's a warm, serence space that feels made for tea and ceremony, and we feel really grateful to be able to gather here.

We're Uscha, Daniel, and Florian. Our paths crossed through a shared love of tea and meditation, and a warm friendship grew from there.
Uscha lived in Australia for 15 years before recently moving back to Amsterdam. While in Byron, she did an apprenticeship with Sam Gibbs, the founder of Cloud Hidden (www.instagram.com/cloudhiddenspace). Afterwards, she regularly facilitated tea ceremonies there. Now that she's back in Amsterdam, she's excited to keep sharing her love of tea and ceremony.

Daniel discovered tea a few years ago, and his curiosity grew into a real passion. He gained his experience at Moychay in Amsterdam, working in the tea house and leading different tea gatherings (ceremonies, matcha workshops). He has been hosting weekly tea ceremonies in an intimate living room setting for over a year, forming a strong community of tea enthousiasts.

Meditation has been a big part of Florian's life for the past decade. He regularly goes on silent retreats and has hosted weekly meditation gatherings at home. His interest in tea started when he began attending Daniel's weekly tea ceremonies, and drinking tea in silence has since become a core part of his daily practice.
