Shanti Deva Buddhist Tibetan Retreat with Gen La Geshe Pema Dorjee 🪷
Join us for an intimate 6-day Tibetan Buddhist retreat in the peaceful countryside of the Netherlands, from 22-27 June 2027.
This retreat offers a rare opportunity to study Buddhist philosophy and practice directly with Gen La Geshe Pema Dorjee, a respected Tibetan Buddhist scholar, teacher, monk and humanitarian. Geshe Pema Dorjee was born in Tibet, later studied in Dharamsala, India, and received the Geshe degree, the highest academic degree in Tibetan Buddhist education. He has taught internationally for many years and is known for making profound Buddhist teachings accessible, warm and practical for modern life. He initiates, maintains and manages humanitarian projects in Nepal and India.
The retreat will also be supported by the learned monk Lobsang Tsering, who will guide parts of the practice and share Tibetan Buddhist tradition in a direct and personal way.
Study programme 2027:
1. Joyful Effort - the seventh chapter of Shantideva's The Bodhisattva's Way of Life
2. Introduction to and study of Mahayana Buddhism
3. Daily morning meditation: what meditation is and how we meditate
Alongside the teachings there is time for questions and answers, quiet reflection and community life, plus three workshops: a Tibetan momo cooking workshop, a Tibetan-motif painting workshop and gentle yoga. The atmosphere is simple, respectful and personal, suitable both for people with previous Buddhist experience and for those who are new to the path.
The retreat takes place at The Makers Barn, a beautiful rural farm in Wijhe, surrounded by nature. The farm has a sauna, a small natural swimming pond and a hot tub.
