## Contact Improvisation: The joyful art of falling and rising together.
This is a grounding and embodying experience, which helps mind and body come together in a playful manner. Through giving, and taking weight, rolling on the ground and eachother, we learn to move in surprising and fun ways. Dancing CI can feel like a combination of getting a massage, acrobatics, surfing, dancing, andd… flying?
CI is a movement practice that helps us break down habitual movement patterns, and instead create room for new and exciting ways to move, dance and play.
It is a way for us to be uniquely and unboundedly creative.
## Introduction - By Christine Cole
Let's stand among the trees, run, crawl, and roll in the grass.
Sometimes in the studio, it can feel difficult to know how to start moving. The floor is hard, and even if you are warming up, it might not inspire movement. Then, when it comes time to work with a partner, you might find your mind overanalyzing every move as you try to find a shared rhythm.
To shift this experience, we are going outside. Rolling in the grass is softer, the wind blows, the trees and bushes create a dynamic landscape, and ducks waddle by. Here, we can connect with a sense of play and just be ourselves.
I will offer scores for warming up and noticing composition. We will practice feeling and seeing someone move across space, and setting ourselves in relationship to a tree, a pond, or the sky.
Then, we will add in some movement together—possibly Contact Improvisation (CI)—while following our interest and curiosity.

## For you?
- You want to be more in the body
- You like to play
- You like to explore new ways to move
- Contact makes you happy (and perhaps shy?)
- Especially for you if you are curious but also a bit afraid
- And for all of us who just can't get enough of somatic research through dancing!
For all movers, beginning or advanced. You don’t have to have the “skills” to dance contact improvisation.
## Contribution
We suggest a contribution of € 10-20 for participating in this event. By contributing you support the continuation and growth of this jam and community.
## Finally
CI can be seen as a form of art, it is about body research, and play, in a non-sexual way. Although those feelings are super welcome to rise and fall, we are not engaging in them. If your intention is to "pick up" or hookup: this is not the place my dear.
## About Christine Cole
Christine Cole, teaches CI and somatics all over the world. She's on the leading edge of research on somatic movement education and therapy and has over 30 years of experience. She displays a radical trust in embodied experience as the primary way for groups to co-create knowledge.
## About Ludo
Bodyworker, dancer and facilitator who is especially fascinated by all that seems to happen "by itself". Currently studying craniosacral therapy, CI & somatics.
With these jams we hope we can bring more people in touch with the wonderful practice of contact improvisation. As it is greatly transforming the way we see and experience life, we wish it can do the same for you.
